The
PieLAB
Story

PieLAB's purpose is to develop people and help them build great businesses.

And that means investing in them, providing resources and capital, and helping them to become exceptional, humble and inquisitive leaders. And we’re in it for the long haul.

Funds

Our active fund, PieLAB Council Capital Fund, is an evergreen fund that invests in businesses that align to our mandate, to ensure we’re on the same page in terms of values, purpose and outcomes. And we would prefer to never sell the businesses we invest in, because building successful companies and leaders takes time and patience. PieLAB’s first fund, the PieLAB REIVC Fund, invested in real estate technology solutions in their startup and scale-up phases. This fund has now been fully allocated.

pielab's origin

PieLAB managing partner Chris Rolls has built and exited 4 businesses and was most recently the founder of Rental Express, Queensland’s largest residential property management business. After selling Rental Express in 2015 he launched PieLAB Venture Partners in 2016 with a $20 million fund to invest in businesses that provided services to the real estate sector.

After fully allocating that fund, PieLAB turned its focus towards investing in a broader range of businesses outside the real estate industry, with the goal of holding those businesses and developing their leaders for the long term.
